The Ayushman Bharat Yojana, also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), provides free health insurance coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary hospitalization to around 50 crore beneficiaries in India.

The expenses incurred in this scheme (Yojana) are shared between the Centre and State in a 60:40 ratio, except for the North-Eastern and the three Himalayan states, where the ratio is 90:10.
