India will commemorate the 62nd Walong Day from 17 October to 14 November 2024, honouring the soldiers of the 1962 Sino-Indian War. Walong, located in eastern Arunachal Pradesh near the Indo-China border, was a significant battleground during the conflict.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has secured $1 billion in pledges for its next budget, spanning 2025-28. Nearly $700 million of this was made in terms of new funding commitments from various European countries, foundations, and organisations. State-owned BEML (Bharat Earth Movers Limited) has been awarded a ₹867 crore contract by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai to design, manufacture, and commission two high-speed train sets. NASA's Europa Clipper spacecraft is on a mission to explore Europa, one of Jupiter's moons believed to have a vast subsurface ocean beneath its icy surface. The mission was launched on October 14, 2024, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. The spacecraft will travel 2.9 billion kilometers and is expected to reach Jupiter in April 2030.
Europa Clipper's main science goal is to determine whether there are places below the surface of Jupiter's icy moon, Europa, that could support life.
