Earth will have a temporary "mini-moon" when asteroid 2024 PT5 orbits from September 29 to November 25, 2024. The 33-foot-wide asteroid won't be visible to the naked eye but can be observed with professional telescopes. It will return to Earth's orbit in 2055. It was discovered by NASA's Asteroid Terrestrial-Impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) on August 7, 2024.
